It now supplies water to the community, where we stop for the night and dinner (included) at the Drury Inn Collinsville, IL.
Day 2: After breakfast (included) we travel to Soulsby Service Station, designed and built in 1926 by Henry Soulsby, an Irish immigrant with a unique design for gas stations at the time. We will visit t the Litchfield Route 66 Museum & Welcome Center, built on the original site of the Vic Suhling Gas Station, we learn the history of this portion of the famed highway and also enjoy restored neon signage from the era and the Vic Suhling Gas Station neon sign. Lunch today is at the Ariston Cafe (included) a cafe that is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. After lunch we will visit Country Classic cars, a classic car museum, dealership and restorer of autos. You can purchase classic cars from almost any era from this unique dealership, where their motto is life is too short to drive something boring. On to a very interesting display at Henrys Rabbit Ranch, where Classic VW Rabbits are buried nose first in the ground a la cadillac ranch. There is even a giant fiberglass Jackrabbit and a roadside sign Hare It Is out front announcing this attraction. We end our day at Pink Elephant Antique Store to walk back in time at this 30,000 square foot antique shopping mall and enjoy dinner at the cafe prior to returning to our hotel.
